Bye Bye Paci!!!

Oh, what a day I dreaded for a LONG time. We had told M when she turned 3 that her paci would have to go bye-bye. So, a couple weeks after her birthday, we decided it was time. If you don't already know, M LOVED her paci. When we received her in China, that is all she came with...her prized paci. Her original paci broke last October while at the beach vacationing with my parents. She wasn't "mature" enough yet to give it up - so a new playtex one took its place. Well, she latched on to it quickly and loved it as well. We did manage to make it an only bedtime "treat" so that when the day came for her to give it up, it wouldn't be so hard. Friday, September 26 was the day. We both, while rocking in the rocking chair, had a very tearful goodbye before we loaded in the van to take it to the post office to mail it to a baby that needed it now she M was a big girl. She chose to pack it in an empty Hello Kitty band-aid box for mailing (of course Mommy swiped it to keep before it made it to its envelope for mailing). We arrived at the post office and M was such a big girl. She gave it to the postman who in return gave her a Priority Mail sticker...LOL. She then was able to go to Toys R Us to pick out something special. She chose a Dora headphone set that plays music from the Dora shows. Nap time was rough that day, but each day has been easier and easier since then. We are so proud of her. We are sad that it is gone...as that was really her last "baby" thing that she did. She is growing up so fast. We try to cherish and soak up each moment.
